The challenge
Single-stage paint, thin in places, with five decades of oxidation, touch-ups and stories. The brief was explicit: bring back colour and life, but preserve every original panel — no chasing perfection through irreplaceable paint.
Work performed
Hand wash only, gentle chemical decon (no aggressive clay on thin areas), paint readings every 20cm, then a slow single-stage jewelling polish on soft pads. Chrome polished by hand, rubber fed, and a carnauba-rich wax chosen for period-correct warmth rather than ceramic hardness.
The result
Colour saturation restored, chrome like mirrors, and every original panel intact — verified by before/after readings shared with the owner. It took a class trophy at its next local show.
